Promotions and Event Specialists for Comcast Spotlight
One of the key functions that sets GolfLeagueGenius apart from the competition is its powerful tournament administration capabilities, including real-time scoring. Whether it’s a small group of friends playing every week or a large company hosting its annual corporate outing, GolfLeagueGenius withstands the unique demands of each group as up to the minute scores can be viewed on large displays, PCs, iPads and any phone with a browser.
Kristen Celins, Comcast’s Promotions and Events Specialist, worked with the Golf Genius Software team and Merion staff to coordinate logistics. After initial planning calls, Celins was impressed with the range of capabilities available, including live scoring and leaderboards, both on the course and on a large LCD display at the post-event reception. The fact that GolfLeagueGenius also provides a custom website for guests to access scores, stats and photos after the outing was also very attractive.
“This was my first year organizing the Comcast Spotlight Golf Classic, and I wanted to incorporate innovative ideas that would enhance the experience,” said Celins. “The ability to provide golfers with live scoring on the course as well as a branded Comcast website with photos and results took the event to a whole new level. Everyone has a busy schedule between family and work obligations, but the website for our event gives people the ability to check results and download photos at their leisure.”
Along with Celins, the other point of contact working with the Golf Genius Software team was Kevin Smith, the Senior Vice President of Comcast Media 360. Smith emceed the awards ceremony and leveraging GolfLeagueGenius allowed he and the Merion staff to have tournament results so quickly and efficiently that the transition from golf to awards was seamless.
“This outing is one of the highlights of the year for our staff and we want to provide our employees and guests with the best golf experience possible,” said Smith. We accomplished that this year with the addition of GolfLeagueGenius. I have a dual role in the event as both an organizer and a golfer. To see the names of my son and I on the leaderboard and our photos on the website made it a very special experience that we were both able to share at one of the finest golf courses in the world.”
Along with the Comcast staff, Golf Genius Software’s team worked hand-in-hand with Merion’s PGA head professional Scott Nye and the rest of the professional staff at Merion Golf Club.
“Having access to GolfLeagueGenius for the Comcast event made our jobs easier and more efficient,” said Nye. “With 100 golfers, a shotgun start, caddies, group putting lessons and other logistics, an event of this magnitude has a lot of moving parts, to say the least. Knowing that the tournament administration was taken care of through the GolfLeagueGenius web site and that the results were complete enabled my staff to spend more time interacting with the outing clients. There is no question that the clients enjoyed the added personal attention and the overall golfing experience.”
